Dr Markus Nesselrodt is an historian of Eastern Europe and a researcher in cultural studies at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder). He has done research on the fate of the Polish Jews in the Soviet Union during the Second World War. He is currently working on a book on the history of Warsaw's multi-ethnic population in the early 19th century, in which Samuel Fränkel also plays a role.
