Prof. Dr. Maren Röger is Director of the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO) and Professor of the History of Eastern Europe/Eastern Central Europe in Leipzig. From 2015 to 2021, she was an assistant professor of Germany's intertwined history with Eastern Europe at the University of Augsburg, where she directed the Bukovina Institute from 2017 to 2021. Prior to that, she was a research associate at the German Historical Institute Warsaw for several years. Her research focuses on the history of multi-ethnic and multi-religious Eastern Europe as well as the history of ethnic homogenization, the history of violence, and the history of memory.
